Psilocybin therapy in Las Vegas: what's legal today

No clinic or retreat in Nevada can legally give you psilocybin; the only legal way to receive it here is inside a clinical trial. As of November 2, 2026, one psilocybin trial (for PTSD) and two trials of a different compound list Las Vegas sites, and the nearest licensed programs are in Colorado and Oregon.

Can you get psilocybin therapy in Las Vegas?

Not legally, except in a clinical trial. Psilocybin is in Nevada's Schedule I1, no Nevada law licenses psilocybin therapists or centers, and no psilocybin medicine is FDA-approved yet13. On November 2, 2026, three active trials listed a Las Vegas site, but only one of them tests psilocybin234.

That leaves three legal routes for someone in Las Vegas: join a trial, travel to a licensed program in another state, or ask a doctor about treatments that are legal here, such as esketamine. Each is covered below.

Clinical trials with Las Vegas sites

We searched ClinicalTrials.gov for psilocybin studies that were recruiting, not yet recruiting or enrolling by invitation, and checked each record on November 2, 20265. Three list a site in Las Vegas. Two of them test CYB003, which the trial records describe as "a deuterated psilocin analog": a chemically modified version of psilocin, a compound closely related to psilocybin, developed by a different company, Cybin. It isn't psilocybin.

Active trials with a Las Vegas site, checked November 2, 2026
TrialWhat it testsStatus
Redefine, NCT07570654 (COMPASS Pathways)COMP360 psilocybin for PTSD. Phase 2/3, adults 18 and over, about 300 participants. The Las Vegas site is listed only as "NV".Recruiting, including Las Vegas2
NCT06793397 (Cybin)CYB003, not psilocybin, for major depressive disorder. Phase 3, ages 18 to 85, about 330 participants. Site: Redbird Research, Las Vegas.Recruiting, including Las Vegas3
EXTEND, NCT06605105 (Cybin)Long-term extension of the CYB003 depression trials. Phase 3. Site: Redbird Research, Las Vegas.Enrolling by invitation only, for people from the earlier CYB003 trials4

A trial isn't treatment on request. Each one screens people against its own criteria, and some exclude common conditions: the PTSD trial, for example, excludes people diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD or anorexia2. In that trial every group receives COMP360, but the comparison group gets a much lower amount, so you won't know which you received2. To ask about a site, use the contact details on the registry record.

Psilocybin trials within a day's drive

These trials of psilocybin itself have sites in Southern California, Arizona or Utah. Road miles are from the Las Vegas Strip, computed the same way as our legal-access list. Statuses are as listed on ClinicalTrials.gov on November 2, 20265; they change, so check the record.

The CYB003 depression trial also recruits in Orange, Glendale, Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California, and Gilbert, Arizona3. Again, that compound isn't psilocybin.

Esketamine and ketamine: the legal options people find instead

If you're looking for legal care in Nevada that's related to psychedelic therapy, what providers can offer is esketamine or ketamine. Neither is a psilocybin-type psychedelic: esketamine's label describes it as an NMDA receptor antagonist and "the S-enantiomer of racemic ketamine"8, a different drug class with different risks.

  • Esketamine nasal spray (Spravato) is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression in adults, alone or with an oral antidepressant, and, with an oral antidepressant, for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder who have acute suicidal thoughts or behavior8. It's available only through a restricted safety program: it's dispensed and given in certified healthcare settings, taken under a provider's direct observation, and patients are monitored for at least 2 hours afterward because of the risks of sedation, dissociation and breathing problems8.
  • Ketamine is FDA-approved as an injection for general anesthesia and is a Schedule III controlled substance. The FDA says "Ketamine is not FDA approved for the treatment of any psychiatric disorder," so clinics that use it for depression are prescribing it off-label9. In October 2023 the FDA warned that compounded ketamine used at home carries extra risk because no provider is there to monitor, citing abuse and misuse, psychiatric events, raised blood pressure, slowed breathing, and bladder and urinary symptoms9.

We don't list or rate clinics. If you're weighing either option, ask whether the product is FDA-approved for your condition, who will monitor you and for how long, and how you'll get home.

Oregon, Colorado and New Mexico

Oregon and Colorado run licensed psilocybin programs for adults 21 and over. Oregon doesn't require a prescription or a medical referral, and visitors from other states can take part10. Colorado had 47 approved healing centers as of October 30, 202611. Sessions are run by licensed facilitators rather than on a doctor's prescription, and Oregon's health authority doesn't set prices10. The nearest centers are 537 miles away in Durango, Colorado, and 724 miles away in Ashland, Oregon; every licensed center, the rules for visitors and the drive times are on our legal psilocybin near Las Vegas page.

New Mexico is building a medical program, and its health department aims to enroll the first patients by the end of December 2026; enrollment hadn't started when we checked12. Psilocybin can't be brought back to Nevada from any of these states.

Retreat listings with Las Vegas in the name

Search for psilocybin therapy in Las Vegas and you may see retreat directories and practitioner listings with "Las Vegas" in the page title or web address. A page address isn't a license. No Nevada law licenses psilocybin retreats or facilitators, and psilocybin stays a Schedule I drug here1, so a retreat offering psilocybin in Nevada would be operating outside the law, with no state oversight of safety, screening or staff.

  • Check any U.S. provider's name against Oregon's licensee directory or Colorado's license lookup, both linked from our list of licensed centers.
  • Retreats in other countries operate under those countries' laws. Bringing psilocybin into Nevada is still unlawful import or transport under NRS 453.32114.
  • Be wary of any listing that asks for a deposit before it tells you its location, who screens participants, or who's trained to handle a medical emergency.

Veterans: no Nevada site in the VA's psilocybin trials

The VA's multi-site psilocybin study, PIVOT (NCT07226232), started on August 3, 2026 and aims to enroll 240 veterans with treatment-resistant depression at five VA medical centers: Birmingham and Tuscaloosa in Alabama, Portland, Philadelphia and Seattle. None is in Nevada. Its control group gets what the registry calls a "psilocybin comparator dose", not a placebo6.

A second VA trial, Psilocybin for Depression in Veterans (NCT07895134), was not yet recruiting on November 2, 2026. It lists VA sites in San Diego, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City, again none in Nevada7. More on PIVOT: the VA's psilocybin trial has no Nevada site.

Questions people ask

Can a Las Vegas doctor prescribe psilocybin?

No. Psilocybin is Schedule I in Nevada and under federal law, and no psilocybin medicine is FDA-approved. Compass, which has been submitting a new drug application to the FDA in parts, has said any launch depends on FDA approval and DEA rescheduling. Our page on when psilocybin could become legal in Nevada tracks that process.

Is ketamine therapy the same as psilocybin therapy?

No. Ketamine and esketamine are a different drug class. Esketamine is FDA-approved for certain kinds of depression and is given only in certified healthcare settings; ketamine is approved for anesthesia, and its use for depression is off-label.

Are there psilocybin trials at UNLV, UNR or the VA in Nevada?

Not on November 2, 2026. The only active trials with Nevada sites in a ClinicalTrials.gov psilocybin search were the three Las Vegas listings above. None lists UNLV, UNR or a VA center, though the Compass trial gives no facility name for its Las Vegas site.

Is a psilocybin retreat in Las Vegas legal?

No. Nevada doesn't license psilocybin retreats or facilitators, and psilocybin is a Schedule I drug in the state.
